What the hell is sassafras? If you have ever drunk traditional root beer or dabbled with MDMA then you are a big fan. It is a delicious sweet-tasting naughty little thing. You decoct it as a tea, and then use the proceeds to flavour traditional root beer or mash together some MDMA. It also makes bloody good ice-cream. Just saying…

sassafras tea

½ cup dried sassafras

2 cups hot water

1 cup agave

Steep sassafras bark in hot water for 30 minutes. Blend tea, sassafras bark, and agave until smooth. Strain through fine chinois, discard pulp, and reserve sweet tea to make ice-cream

sassafras ice cream

1 ¼ cup cashews, soaked

1 cup coconut meat

1 batch sassafras tea

6 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

6 licorice drops

¼ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon caco butter, melted

¼ cup coconut oil, melted

Blend all ingredients, except for oils, until smooth. While the blender is still going on low, add in oils. Make ice-cream using paco-jet or ice-cream maker.
